Marathon calendar 2027

Marathon and half marathon dates in 2027

Where the organiser has not confirmed the 2027 date yet, the table says so and shows the date that follows the pattern of previous years. Check the official site before you book flights and hotels.

When to start training

The last column is the first day of the base plan from our guides: 18 weeks before a marathon and 12 before a half marathon or shorter race. Twelve weeks is Hal Higdon's plan for a first half marathon: the first week has runs of 3.2 and 4.8 km and a 6.4 km long run.

The marathon column follows Higdon's novice marathon plan: 18 weeks, with 24 km already in week one. If you run regularly and this is not your first marathon, you can start two or three weeks later. The pace calculator shows what pace your goal time needs.

World Marathon Majors guides

The Abbott World Marathon Majors now has eight races: Tokyo, Boston, London, Cape Town, Sydney, Berlin, Chicago and New York. Getting into each one takes planning, often a year ahead. Each guide covers the date, how entry works for 2027, the course and a week-by-week plan with dates.
